EASTER CONCERT

Saturday, 28 March at 8.30 pm, the voices of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale in concert with Umbria Ensemble

The Teatro Lirico Sperimentale and Umbria Ensemble announce the Easter Concert to be held on Saturday 28 March at 8.30 pm at the Teatro Caio Melisso in Spoleto.


The programme includes Luigi Boccherini's (Lucca, 1743 – Madrid, 1805) Stabat Mater. “What characterises this inspired Stabat Mater,” comments Enrico Girardi, artistic director of the Sperimentale, 'is a different instrumentation compared to that of other composers who have set the sequence attributed to Jacopone da Todi to music. In the first version of 1781, the work features a soprano and a string quintet. In the 1800 version that we will perform, in addition to adding an instrumental piece that serves as an overture, the Tuscan composer distributed the vocal parts to two sopranos and a tenor."

On stage will be the musicians of Umbria Ensemble - Angelo Cicillini (first violin), Cecilia Rossi (second violin), Luca Ranieri (viola), Maria Cecilia Berioli (first cello), Ermanno Vallini (second cello) - together with the voices of the Sperimentale: Ariadna Vilardaga (soprano), Sara Di Santo (soprano) and Joaquin Cangemi (tenor).
