SPOLETO CARD: MARCH VISITS

Every week in March, the Spoleto Card offers opportunities to discover the historical and artistic heritage of the city and surrounding area. Themed visits to Palazzo Collicola, the Church of Saints John and Paul, the Roman House, the Temple of Clitunno and the Museum of Textiles and Costumes

In March, five new themed visits are scheduled each week with the Spoleto Card, organised by Maggioli Cultura e Turismo in collaboration with the Regional Directorate of Museums of Umbria, to learn about the historical and artistic heritage of the city and the surrounding area.


The first tour will be held on Sunday 1 March at 12:00 noon at the Church of Saints John and Paul, entitled Murder in the Cathedral: the story of Thomas Becket, during which the story of the murder of the Archbishop of Canterbury will be explored, starting from the ancient fresco preserved inside the church.

On Saturday 7 March at 2:00 pm, there will be a visit to the Roman House dedicated to daily life in ancient Rome, entitled How did people live in a Roman domus? Customs and traditions of a 1st-century AD dwelling.

On Saturday 14 March at 5 p.m., the history of fashion through the centuries will be explored at the Textile and Costume Museum with a guided tour entitled Shoes, bags and corsets: the history of fashion from the 16th century to the present day.

The programme continues on Saturday 21 March at 3 p.m. at the Tempietto sul Clitunno, where a tour entitled Fragments of an empire: Lombard aesthetics and power among the ruins of Rome (organised by Orologio Soc. Coop.) will take place. Booking is required: tempietto.cultura@orologionetwork.it

The last tour of the month will be on Saturday 28 March at 3 p.m. at Palazzo Collicola with an
in-depth look at the palace's former owners: The Collicola family: history of a noble family from Spoleto.

Themed guided tours are free for holders of the weekly and annual Spoleto Card and are open to everyone at a reduced rate of €5.00 per person in addition to the museum ticket, where applicable.

Guided tours are by reservation only, with limited numbers until all places are filled.
