MOVES! - NEW DANCE REVIEW

2025/2026 Edition - Spoleto, Cantiere Oberdan

MOVES! is back! A new dance festival promoted by La MaMa Umbria International and the Teatro Stabile dell'Umbria.


The first event of 2026 is SUPERSTELLA, a show by and starring Vittorio Pagani, scheduled for Sunday 15 February at 6 pm at the Cantiere Oberdan theatre (Piazza San Gabriele dell'Addolorata - car park behind Via dei Gesuiti) in Spoleto.

Vittorio Pagani is a dancer and choreographer originally from Milan, trained in Italy, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. After various significant experiences, including the Ballet Junior de Genève, he developed an authorial research that intertwines dance, video and words. In 2022, he created A Solo in the Spotlights, also hosted in Spoleto in 2024 by La MaMa Umbria and TSU during the Festival dei Due Mondi. SUPERSTELLA represents the second chapter of his research.
SUPERSTELLA explores what it means to create dance today. Can the creative act ignore external judgement and personal experience? Inspired by the myth of movie stars and in dialogue with Federico Fellini's 8½, the performance intertwines video, sampling, dance and words, against the darkness and against all odds.

On Friday 13 March 2026 at 9 p.m., the festival will feature AMƏN by Emanuele Rosa and Maria Focaraccio (EM+), a performance that explores how social and cultural norms shape our bodies and identities. With irony and dramatic tension, AMƏN investigates the relationship between authenticity and social construction, unmasking the multiple forms of masculinity and femininity through dance, sound, and video projections.

On Sunday 26 April 2026 at 6 p.m., Dewey Dell's ECHO DANCE OF FURIES & DERIVA TRAVERSA will be staged, a double programme that explores rituality, ancestral memory and inner geographies. Echo Dance of Furies draws inspiration from anatomical ex-votos, revealing primal fears and primordial instincts. Deriva Traversa delves into the solitude of the shepherd, in a poetic journey that combines body, sound and oral tradition.
