LA DOMENICA DEI SOGNI

Theatre perfomances for children and families at the Teatro Nuovo Gian Carlo Menotti

La Domenica dei Sogni (Dream Sunday) the family theatre programme conceived by Vincenzo Cerami, will offer a journey through fairy tales, fantastical characters and stories capable of engaging audiences of all ages.

Three performances are scheduled at the Teatro Nuovo Gian Carlo Menotti, starting at 4.30 pm, designed to introduce young children to the language of theatre and offer families opportunities to come together and share experiences through the magic of live performance.

The series kicks off on Sunday 8 November with Il Gatto con gli stivali (Puss in Boots), a production by TSA – Teatro Stabile d’Abruzzo, which reimagines the famous fairy tale through the conventions of the Commedia dell’Arte. The protagonist is a cunning and resourceful cat, ready to transform his master’s fate through disguises, tricks and surprising encounters.

The second event is scheduled for Saturday 12 December, with Babbo Natale va in pensione (Santa Claus Retires), by the Teatro Eidos – Associazione culturale theatre company. Amidst comic gags, physical comedy and audience participation, Santa Claus must find a worthy successor, putting his trusted helpers – the elves Ghiacciolina and Fioccodineve – to the test.

The programme concludes on Sunday 21 February with Biancaneve (Snow White), by Teatro dell’Elle – ETS Quisquilie. Two actresses bring the Queen and Snow White to life on stage, in a play of contrasts between pride and humility, arrogance and generosity. Puppets, shadow puppetry, transformable sets, music and original songs performed live accompany a reimagining of the fairy tale that weaves together reality and magic.

La biblioteca va a Teatro returns once again this year – an initiative that brings the theatre programme into dialogue with the services offered by the Municipal Library. Half an hour before the performances begin, the foyer of the Teatro Nuovo will host a dedicated reading area, where children and young people can discover stories, meet characters from children’s literature and borrow books. This is an opportunity to promote reading beyond the walls of Palazzo Mauri and to strengthen the bond between culture, families and the younger generation.

The programme is organised with the support of the B.I.M. Cascia Consortium.

Information and tickets

The performances take place at the Teatro Nuovo Gian Carlo Menotti, starting at 4.30 pm. Admission is free for under-18s; tickets for adults cost 6 euros. The box office is open on the day of the performance from 3.45 pm to 4.30 pm.

Spoleto is an exemplary synthesis of nature and culture, a center on a human scale, with a prominent medieval and Renaissance appearance, but of very ancient formation, with an urban stratification that is easily readable in its precious and millenary historical-architectural heritage
