35th INTERNATIONAL DANCE WEEK

From 28 April to 2 May 2026 at the Teatro Nuovo 'Gian Carlo Menotti'

One of the most eagerly awaited events on the international dance scene is back: the 35th edition of the International Dance Week, scheduled to take place from 28 April to 2 May 2026, a prestigious milestone celebrating over thirty years of excellence, talent and cultural exchange.


The 2026 edition will consist of five action-packed days of events, workshops and performances. The heart of the event will be the international competition, scheduled for 29 and 30 April and 1 May, which will see young dancers compete before a jury of the highest international calibre.

The competition, part of the Federation of the world’s most important dance competitions, will award the prestigious Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Spoleto Grand Prix to the most deserving dancer of the edition.

To round off the week, 2 May will offer the public two unmissable events: performances in Piazza Duomo, featuring the Nibe Company and 2Mad Collettive, and the eagerly awaited Grand Gala at the Teatro Nuovo Gian Carlo Menotti, the highlight of the entire event.

The participants will be judged by a jury comprising leading figures from the global dance scene:

Sergey Bobrov, Artistic Director of the Varna National Opera and Ballet Theatre
Marina Osipova, Artistic Director and founder of the Osipova Ballet Academy in Los Angeles
Carla Bubblitz, director of the Vera Bublitz Ballet and founder of the Porto Alegre International Dance Festival
Liu Jun, former principal dancer at the Berlin State Opera and now artistic director of the Chongqing Ballet
Francesco Annarumma, internationally renowned choreographer and teacher
Sara Zuccari, President of the Critics’ Award, journalist, editor of Giornale della Danza and critic for the weekly magazine L’Espresso

Participants will arrive in Spoleto from all over Italy and from numerous countries abroad, including Slovakia, Belarus, China, the United States, Germany, Russia, Latvia and Ukraine.

The event has been organised under the patronage of the Municipality of Spoleto, the Fondazione For Dance, the Fondazione Antonini and the International Federation of Ballet Competition.

The International Dance Week thus reaffirms its status as an unmissable event on the cultural calendar, successfully combining competition, performance and training into a single, grand celebration of dance.
