The Museum is located inside the station, that was the start point of the former Spoleto-Norcia Railway, fallen into disuse in the late 60s, and it allows the visitors to know the history of this evocative route that wound through the heart of Umbria, thanks to more than 500 documents, images and objects.
Two-lire tickets, a crank telephone, electric meters, uniforms and acetylene signals are some of the pieces shown, that document the transport revolution that took place between Spoleto and Norcia on 1 November 1926, when the electric train began to connect the two towns across the Valnerina in just two hours.
The reconstruction of director Paolo Basler's room and the railway project represent the completion of this 42-year fairytale.
The museum is also the last stop of what is now an extraordinary soft-mobility route to be taken on foot or by bicycle, which allows to relive the beauty of a journey that used to be paced by toll booths and stations, bridges and helical tunnels.
