The exhibits preserved at the Museum of Science and Territory offer a narrative about the history and transformations of the Spoleto area and of the Earth. The educational activities help to understand natural phenomena and the changes taking place in our environment.
The MuST houses two collections, the geo-paleontological collection of Count Francesco Toni and the zoological collection of naturalist and university lecturer Bernardino Ragni. The first one collects fossils, ammonites, lithological and mineralogical findings collected between 1867 and 1892; the second one, on the other hand, which is the result of more than forty years of work, includes important biological findings and documents that reach up to Ragni's death in 2018. In 1999 the collections were donated to the city of Spoleto. The scientific museum is distinguished by its didactic vocation: activities are aimed at adults and children, school groups, groups and tourists, guiding them toward the knowledge of mountains, rivers, springs, caves, landscapes, volcanoes, rocks, fossils, minerals, animal findings and whatever else is fascinating on planet earth and, in particular, in the territory of Spoleto
